Lyman Logan: Funeral record, Burns Bros., Tilden, Randolph County, Illinois, 1909

Lyman Logan was a miner in Tilden, Randolph County, Illinois. Note that the payment was secured by the Miners’ Local of the United Mine Workers Union. The union took care of its own. There was no governmental “safety net” yet in place. That would not happen until Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s progressive New Deal.
