Reuben Logan, son of Carroll Bias Logan and Lucinda “Lucy” Ann Venable Logan, was born 17 August 1845 in Perry County, Illinois. Anna “Annie” Guthrie was the daughter of James Guthrie and Margaret Carrick Guthrie. She was born 27 January 1844 near Oakdale in Washington County, Illinois. Anna Guthrie married, first, William R. Maxwell in 1864. He was a 2nd Lt. in Co. D, 48th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, U.S. (Union). He was killed in the Battle for Atlanta 28 July 1864 and is buried at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia. Reuben Logan served as a private in the same unit, Co. D, 48th Illinois. He and Anna Guthrie Maxwell married 22 September 1870 in Perry County, Illinois. They helped raise Harriet “Hattie” Bigham, daughter of Harriet N. Logan Bigham and Josiah Bigham. (Harriet N. Logan was Reuben Logan’s sister. She was a twin. Her twin was Andrew Jackson Logan. She died in 1868. Josiah Bigham remarried. He died in 1874.) Reuben Logan died 26 July 1916. Annie Guthrie (Maxwell) Logan died 27 February 1929. Reuben and Anna are buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pinckneyville, Illinois.
