Elihu Z. Logan is misidentified as “Elihu Root” in this photo. (Elihu Root was a Senator, Secretary of War, and Secretary of State. He won the Nobel Peace Prize. A subsequent correction was made in the Des Moines Register.) Elihu Logan, born 21 September 1866 in Oakdale, Washington County, Illinois, was the son of Reuben Logan and Sarah Jane Stewart McElhaney or McElhinney Logan. Elihu ran a barber shop and ice cream parlor in Oakdale, Illinois. He and his wife, Alice Gordon Logan, and son, Harry Logan, moved to Morning Sun, Louisa County, Iowa, in 1912. Harry died in 1936; Alice in 1939; and Elihu in 1952.
