Ad for Baptist preacher and classics teacher, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, 1839; William Logan is one of the deacons

William Logan and his wife, Joanna Cason Logan , moved with the “South Carolina Colony” from Edgefield District, South Carolina, to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, in 1835, 1836, or 1837 (three different sources list three different dates). The “South Carolina Colony” was mostly comprised of Baptists. They settled in the Mt. Lebanon community in Claiborne Parish and organized the Rehoboth Baptist Church 8 July 1837. In the advertisement below from The Biblical Recorder, the church deacons, including William Logan, are seeking a preacher and classics teacher for their church.

(Note: In Logan Connections, I have William Logan dying about 1838, but clearly he was living in 1839.)
