Zachariah Milton Garrison: Pension application, Dewey, Washington County, Oklahoma, 1907

Zachariah Milton Garrison, son of Luther Alexander Stamps Garrison and Mahala “Milly” or “Millie” Logan Garrison, was born 22 November 1837 in Louisville, Allen County, Kentucky. He was named for his grandfathers, Zachariah Logan and John Milton Garrison. He married Mary Lucinda Brock. Zachariah M. Garrison joined the Army at Industry, McDonough County, Illinois, 14 August 1862. He mustered in as a private in Co. I, 78th Illinois Infantry Regiment, U.S. (Union). This unit saw hard fighting in the Civil War. Sgt. Zachariah M. Garrison mustered out 7 June 1865 in Washington, D.C. He applied for a pension 23 November 1907.
